Alan Whetton Auto Sales opened for business January 2, 2007.We stock about 30 or so cars and trucks, trying to specialize in vehicles under $10,000. We also sell more expensive cars and trucks, but mostly on a special order basis. We also are a dealer for Passport and Highland Motor Scooters. And most sell for about $1850 + tax and license. We are seasoned professionals in this business and promise to make your buying experience easy, enjoyable, and pressure free.

I began my career in the automobile business working part time washing cars at my dad’s Buick Jeep Dealership here in Ogden in the late 1960’s.  In July of 1975 I began selling cars full time in the summers and part time the rest of the year while earning a BA in Business Administration/Marketing from Weber State.  I learned the car business mostly under the tutorship of my father, Jim Whetton.  Taking good care of our customers before and after the sale, as well as being honest and fair, are the main things that my dad instilled in me as I learned the business.  This attitude continues in our business here today at  Alan Whetton  Auto Sales.  Harrisville Utah is the actual location of the dealership and my dad and I still call Harrisville our home.  We both live within walking distance of the dealership.  Many of our customers are our neighbors.  We look forward to serving you in your transportation needs.

James J. Whetton started in the car business in 1938 washing cars at Ogden Buick Sales Co.  He sold his first car in that same year, a 1938 Buick Road Master.  In 1960 he purchased  Ogden Buick Sales Co to form Jim Whetton Buick which the family operated until 1961.  During the same period hen served two terms as Chairman of the Buick National Dealer Council which group represented 3000 Buick dealers nationally, served on the General Motors Advisory Board and as Chairman of the Utah Automobile Dealers Association.  He was inducted into the U.A.D.A. Hall of fame in January 12, 2006.  He was recipient of Time Magazine’s Quality Dealer award in 1984.

I started selling cars over 30 years ago beginning with Jim Whetton Buick. Over the years I’ve been with several dealerships including Axtell Chevrolet in Logan, Willie Ford in Bountiful, and Ogden Subaru. My experience includes sales management and finance. It’s great to be back “home” working where honesty and integrity are exemplified.
